Green Supply Chain Management and Competitive Advantage in the Local Food Industry: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between GSCM implementation and competitive advantage in the local food industry through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The review draws on literature concerning GSCM, sustainable food supply chain management, competitive advantage, and empirical studies on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The conceptual synthesis focuses on green purchasing, environmentally friendly production, green distribution, waste reduction, and supply chain collaboration. The reviewed literature indicates that GSCM has the potential to support competitive advantage through cost efficiency, improved quality, product differentiation, enhanced reputation, and the ability to respond to market demands. However, these benefits are not automatic, as they are influenced by investment costs, managerial capabilities, supplier support, product characteristics, and technological readiness. In the context of the local food industry, GSCM implementation needs to be tailored to business scale and the characteristics of local supply chains. This article proposes a conceptual framework linking GSCM practices to competitive advantage and identifies the need for further empirical research on local food MSMEs in Indonesia.
