Abstract


This study aims to examine the materials, teaching methods, and evaluation of the Middle East University Preparation Guidance Program at Amanatul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, Surabaya. This study employed a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving program supervisors and participating students. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through persistent observation, prolonged field engagement, and source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the three-month guidance program effectively enhances students’ academic and cultural readiness for pursuing higher education in the Middle East. The program focuses on Arabic language proficiency and relevant Islamic studies, including Qur’anic memorization, Nahwu, Shorof, Kitabah, and Qira’ah, delivered through lecture, Sorogan, and memorization methods. Evaluation consists of internal weekly assessments conducted by the boarding school and external assessments through entrance examinations administered by PUSIBA. Overall, the program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the academic demands of higher education in the Middle East.
