Abstract
The objectives of this study are: (1) to analyze the concepts of learning and instruction, (2) to examine the principles of learning, and (3) to analyze the four-phase learning cycle. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing various relevant sources related to learning theories, learning principles, and the four-phase learning cycle, particularly within the context of Islamic Religious Education. The data used in this study are derived from research findings sourced from reference books and academic journals related to the research object. The results of the study indicate that: (1) learning is a process of behavioral transformation that results in changes in knowledge, attitudes, skills, and values through individuals’ interactions with their environment. Instruction is not merely the delivery of content but a deliberately designed process to facilitate comprehensive and sustainable behavioral change; (2) the application of the demonstration principle helps learners understand concepts concretely, the application principle encourages the linkage between theory and practice, the task-centered principle fosters learning responsibility, the activation principle stimulates prior knowledge as a foundation for learning, and the integration principle enables holistic learning encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains; (3) the four-phase learning cycle integrates direct experience with theoretical understanding and practical application, making learning more meaningful, contextual, and effective in developing learners’ competencies.
