Abstract
This study examines the values of character education in Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir of Surah Luqman (13–19) using tawḥid and ‘ubudiyyah as the foundational approaches to Islamic character formation. This qualitative library research applies content analysis to Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azim by Ibn Kathīr as the primary source. The findings reveal that tawḥīd nurtures spiritual awareness, honesty, and responsibility, while ‘ubudiyyah cultivates discipline, patience, and humility in social life. Both approaches complement one another in shaping a faithful and virtuous Muslim character. Thus, character education grounded in tawhid and ‘ubudiyyah remains highly relevant in modern Islamic education to foster morally upright and spiritually conscious individuals.
