Enhancing Students’ Learning Outcomes through the Make a Match Learning Model in Islamic Religious Education for Grade XII Students at SMA Plus Ar Raudhah

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Grade XII students at SMA Plus Ar Raudhah in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the implementation of the Make a Match learning method. It was found that many students in Grade XII had difficulty understanding the learning material and tended to show low enthusiasm toward the subject of Islamic Cultural History. This was evident from the results of formative and daily tests, which had not yet reached the minimum mastery criterion (KKM = 72). These results were influenced by several factors, including differences in students’ learning strategies and the use of teaching methods that did not match the students’ characteristics. Consequently, student learning outcomes were suboptimal and needed improvement.The subjects of this study were 23 students of Grade XII at SMA Plus Ar Raudhah, consisting of 13 males and 10 females. This research employed a classroom action research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were collected through observation during the implementation of the actions and final test results. The findings show that in the first cycle, 16 out of 23 students (69.56%) achieved mastery, while in the second cycle, 21 students (91.86%) achieved mastery. This demonstrates that the implementation of the Make a Match technique can improve the learning outcomes of Grade XII students at SMA Plus Ar Raudhah in Islamic Religious Education. The results also had a positive impact on students’ learning activities and engagement, leading to increased academic achievement in the PAI subject.
