Abstract


This research is motivated by the low Arabic speaking skills of students, especially in vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and courage to communicate. The purpose of this study is to improve students' speaking skills through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model by making conversation videos. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method of the Kemmis & McTaggart model which is implemented in two cycles with the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 15 students of class X-3 MA MAI Purwakarta. Data were obtained through speaking skills tests, observation, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed an increase in the average score of students from 56 in the pre-cycle to 69.67 in the first cycle, and increased again to 75.53 in the second cycle. The percentage of classical completeness also increased from 20% to 40% in the first cycle and 66.67% in the second cycle. The implication of this study is that the application of Project Based Learning through making conversation videos is effective in improving students' speaking skills, motivation, and confidence in using Arabic.
