Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the world of work, including work tasks and the competencies required of employees. This study aims to analyze how work is redefined in the AI era through three aspects: job crafting, work meaningfulness, and professional identity. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature and document analysis of relevant scholarly sources on AI and changes in the workplace. The data were analyzed thematically by identifying patterns and themes related to the research focus. The findings show that the use of AI encourages employees to adjust their tasks, develop new competencies, and change the way they perform their work. These changes also affect the meaningfulness of work and encourage employees to reconstruct their professional identities. Therefore, AI not only changes how work is performed but also influences how employees understand the role and value of their work. This study highlights the importance of human resource management strategies that support competency development and effective human–AI collaboration.
