Pedagogi Kultural dalam Valuasi Ecosystem Service: Ko-produksi Pengetahuan dan Pembelajaran Komunitas di Hutan Selorejo

Abstract

Land-use changes in the Selorejo Forest area, Malang Regency driven by settlement expansion and intensive agriculture have altered how local communities perceive and manage ecosystem services. This research is crucial due to the scarcity of studies integrating cultural pedagogy with knowledge co-production processes in community-based ecosystem service valuation, particularly as mounting pressures on the Selorejo Forest threaten to erode intergenerational local ecological knowledge. The study aims to: (1) analyze the knowledge co-production process among local communities, the government, and academics regarding ecosystem service valuation in Selorejo Forest; (2) identify forms of cultural pedagogy that facilitate community learning about ecosystem service values; and (3) formulate a cultural pedagogy-based community learning model that supports participatory and sustainable ecosystem service valuation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed using source triangulation. The findings reveal that the knowledge co-production process in Selorejo Forest valuation unfolds in four stages: identification of actors and knowledge systems; interaction and knowledge exchange; negotiation and knowledge synthesis; and implementation accompanied by adaptive learning. This process generates community learning mechanisms, including participatory conservation practices, multi-stakeholder dialogue forums, experiential learning, and the intergenerational transmission of ecological and cultural knowledge. The study formulates a cultural pedagogy model comprising components such as cultural-ecological values, learning actors, the knowledge co-production process, community learning mechanisms, reflective-adaptive practices, and the internalization of ecosystem service values within Selorejo Forest management.
