Analisis Pola dan Faktor Penyebab Pencurian Sepeda Motor di Wilayah Hukum Polsek Tambang

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns and factors causing motorcycle theft in the jurisdiction of Tambang Police Sector using the Routine Activity Theory approach. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research design. The research was conducted in the jurisdiction of Tambang Police Sector. The data consist of primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through interviews with police officers, perpetrators, victims, and members of the community, while secondary data were obtained from documents, police reports, books, journals, and relevant laws and regulations. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed qualitatively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The analysis was based on three elements of Routine Activity Theory, namely motivated offender, suitable target, and absence of capable guardian. The results show that perpetrators tend to observe environmental conditions, select vehicles that are easy to target, and take advantage of locations that are quiet and have limited supervision. The contributing factors include economic conditions, urgent needs, social environment, the desire for profit, and opportunity. Motorcycle theft occurs when a motivated offender encounters a suitable target in a situation with weak guardianship. Prevention can be carried out by increasing police patrols, strengthening community surveillance, improving environmental lighting, and enhancing vehicle security.
