Dalihan Na Tolu dan Boras Si Pir Ni Tondi: Sosioteologi Kekerabatan dalam Pemulihan Trauma Kolektif

Abstract


This article examines the practice of Boras Si Pir Ni Tondi in Toba Batak culture as a mechanism for recovering from collective trauma following disasters, using a kinship-centered sociotheological approach grounded in the structure of Dalihan Na Tolu. Drawing on the response of the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Church to the victims of the flash floods in December 2025, this study argues that the effectiveness of the ritual lies not merely in the symbolism of rice, but in the kinship relationships that activate it. Within the framework of Dalihan Na Tolu, hula-hula (blessers) function as channels of spiritual and social restoration, dongan tubu (clan members) provide collective solidarity, and boru (recipients) affirm the restoration of their identity as integral members of a whole community. Through qualitative literature review and participant observation, the study finds that the ritual operates on two levels: sociologically, it restores kinship networks disrupted by disaster; theologically, it conveys blessing and hope to survivors. This study recommends strengthening the role of local kinship structures in community-based disaster response protocols.
