Abstract
Smoking is a habit that has a negative impact on health, including oral health. The low understanding of adolescents, especially students Junior High School students of the dangers of smoking is one of the challenges in improving the degree of Dental and Oral Health in Indonesia. Objective: To determine the effectiveness ofthe effectiveness of 3-dimensional video media in improving students' understanding of the dangers of smokingfor dental health at SMP Negeri 46 Palembang, as well as comparing between mediaeducational video media. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental designwith a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample amounted to 32 students of class VIII whodivided into two groups, 16 students each. Experimental groupusing 3- Dimensional video and Control Group using Educational video.Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest questionnaires measured by an understanding scale.with an understanding scale. Results: the study showed a significant increase insignificant increase in student understanding after being given counseling using a 3-dimensional video.3 dimensions. In the Experiment group, the average score of students' understanding increasedfrom 44.99 to 95.83 after counseling, while in the control group it increased from 52.07 to 89.16.group increased from 52.07 to89.16. Paired T-Test test showed the value of p <0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the two media. Conclusion: 3-dimensional video media proved to be more effective than educational videos in increasing students' understanding of the dangers of smoking for dental health. The use of interesting learning media such as 3-dimensional videos is recommended in health counseling programs in schools to attract interest and increase student understanding.
