Abstract

Enhancing students’ engagement and academic performance in Fiqh classes is crucial for fostering valuable and enjoyable educational experiences. The Teams Games Tournament (TGT) educational model was utilized to create a more dynamic, competitive, and cooperative classroom environment. The event took place at Madrasah Aliyah YPPA Cipulus, engaging 39 students in the eleventh grade for the academic year 2025/2026. The research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach over two cycles, which included planning, executing, observing, and reflecting stages. The findings demonstrated a notable enhancement in both students' engagement and academic results. The average engagement rose from 71.4% in Cycle I to 88% in Cycle II, with the average learning score increasing from 76.4 to 79.8, and learning mastery enhancing from 69% to 85%. The Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model effectively established a lively and engaging learning environment, motivated students to be more engaged and self-assured, and promoted teamwork among classmates. Additionally, values in Islam like accountability, teamwork, and fair play were fostered during the educational journey.
