Abstract
This research was conducted at SMK PAB 2 Helvetia with a focus on analyzing the understanding of 12th grade students in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The method used was qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and evaluation of students’ learning outcomes during the Field Practice Program (PPL). The results showed that students’ understanding of PAI material was in the fairly good category, although some students still faced difficulties, especially in relating the subject matter to daily life. Supporting factors for students’ understanding included the use of varied teaching methods, learning media, and active interaction between teachers and students. Meanwhile, the obstacles found were the low learning motivation of some students and the limited time allocated for learning. Therefore, the implementation of more innovative and contextual learning strategies is needed to improve students’ understanding optimally. This research is expected to serve as a reflection for teachers and prospective educators in developing more effective PAI learning methods.
