Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between economic literacy and entrepreneurial interest among students of SMA Jayanegara Makassar. The background of this research lies in the importance of economic literacy as a foundation for making rational financial decisions and its role in fostering entrepreneurial orientation among young generations. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students of SMA Jayanegara Makassar in the 2024/2025 academic year, with a total sample of 80 students selected using proportional random sampling. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation test. The findings reveal that students’ economic literacy falls into the high category (52.5%), while their entrepreneurial interest is also categorized as high (47.5%) and very high (25.0%). The Pearson correlation test showed r = 0.590 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a positive and significant relationship between economic literacy and entrepreneurial interest. This means that the higher the students’ economic literacy, the greater their interest in entrepreneurship. This study suggests that economic literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing students’ entrepreneurial inclination. Therefore, schools are encouraged to strengthen economics and entrepreneurship learning through practical-based activities, so that students not only understand theoretical concepts but also acquire practical skills to face future economic challenges.
